Cloud mining · Before you pay

How to check any cloud mining offer in five minutes

Search for cloud mining and many of the sites you find are scams. Eight questions sort them out. An honest provider passes every one, and that includes us.

  • A fixed daily return
  • Mining a coin that can't be mined
  • A big sign-up bonus
  • A fee to unlock withdrawals
  • Commissions several levels deep

The checklist

Answer these about the offer you're looking at

Tap Yes, No or Not sure for each question. Nothing you tap is stored or sent; the verdict is worked out on this page.

  1. 01

Can you look up the company and its licence yourself?

A real provider names its legal company, its licence number and who issued it, and you can check them with that authority.

Red flag: only a brand name, a registration shown as if it were a licence, or an address that turns out to be a virtual office.

    How Segments answers this

Segments Cloud Hash FZ-LLC, a licensed UAE company. Its licence and VAT numbers are in the imprint and on every invoice, and the TRN can be checked with the UAE Federal Tax Authority.

  2. 02

Does it avoid promising a fixed daily return?

Mining output moves every day with the bitcoin price and network difficulty, so nobody honest can promise a fixed percentage. Estimates should come with their assumptions.

Red flag: "1.5% a day", "principal returned", "guaranteed profit", countdowns or "last few slots".

    How Segments answers this

We don't promise returns. Hashrate is priced at the live network hashprice plus 4%, and what it might mine is shown as an estimate with its assumptions.

  3. 03

Is the coin it mines actually mineable?

Bitcoin is mined with SHA-256 machines. Some coins can't be mined at all.

Red flag: "XRP mining", "USDT mining" or "SOL mining": these coins have no mining, so the product can't be real.

    How Segments answers this

Bitcoin only, mined on SHA-256 machines.

  4. 04

Can you see your hashrate somewhere the provider doesn't control?

Real hashrate can point at a mining pool you choose, where it shows up as your worker. Then you don't have to trust the provider's own screen.

Red flag: a dashboard that exists only on their site, with balances you can't trace anywhere else.

    How Segments answers this

Every hashrate order goes to SegPool with your bitcoin address or to your own pool, where it shows up as your worker.

  5. 05

Does it name its mining sites, and can you visit one?

Machines need power, cooling and a building. A real operator can tell you where, show real footage and arrange a visit.

Red flag: stock or generated photos, no locations, or excuses whenever you ask to visit.

    How Segments answers this

10 named hosting centres in the UAE. You can book a site tour before you buy.

  6. 06

Are payouts made to your own wallet, with every fee stated up front?

Mined coins should reach a wallet you control, and the fees should be in the terms before you pay.

Red flag: a "tax", "activation" or "verification" fee before you can withdraw, or a minimum that keeps rising.

    How Segments answers this

The pool pays mined bitcoin to your own wallet. We hold no balance for you and charge no withdrawal fee; the pool's fee is shown before you order.

  7. 07

Is there no referral scheme, or only a single-level one?

A simple thank-you for an introduction is normal. Commissions on the deposits of people your recruits recruit are how pyramid schemes pay their early members.

Red flag: several referral levels, or rewards that depend mostly on recruiting rather than mining.

    How Segments answers this

Our affiliate programme has one level: a partner is paid only on what the clients they introduced pay, never for recruiting other partners.

  8. 08

Is it absent from regulators' warning lists?

Regulators publish the names of firms they have warned about. Searching the name takes a minute.

Red flag: a warning in any country, or a name that is one letter away from a firm that has one.

    How Segments answers this

Search for Segments Cloud Hash FZ-LLC on these lists too.

Run the same checks on us

Our cloud mining and hashrate market pages show the licence, the sites, the price formula and where your hashrate goes. Check them against this list.
