Solo mining · Segments
A whole block, or nothing.
Solo mining pays one miner a whole block when their hashrate finds it, and nothing until then. SegPool pays steadily and has no solo mode, so this page shows the odds and two ways to try: rent a round on IonGrid, or point a miner you own at a public solo pool.

Rent a round
Rented hashrate, aimed at a whole block
IonGrid rents SHA-256 hashrate for solo rounds from 1 PH/s. Size a round here to see its odds at today's difficulty. IonGrid shows its own quote, pool and odds before you pay.
- 01Size your roundPick the hashrate and the days. More of either raises the chance, by the same arithmetic every pool uses.
- 02Your address is the payoutThe round mines with your own bitcoin address as the username, so a block it finds pays that address.
- 03A block pays you, not usThe pool writes the reward into the block itself, less only its fee. Segments takes nothing from it and never holds it.

- 0.021% at today's difficulty, which changes about every two weeks.

Already own a miner?
Your miner's odds, and where to point it
A Bitaxe on your desk or a machine that no longer pays for its power can take a shot at a whole block. Solo doesn't change what a machine earns on average. It changes how it is paid: one whole block, or nothing.
Rule of thumb: if a machine pays its power bill on a steady pool, keep it on SegPool. If it doesn't, or it is too small to notice, a solo pool gives it a chance at a block.

This machine earns more than its power costs on a steady pool. For income, keep it on SegPool. Send it solo only if you want the shot.

The plain facts of mining solo
Most attempts find nothing
A small hashrate rarely finds a block. A rented round that ends without one is spent, and a small miner can run for longer than a lifetime without a hit. Spend only what you are content to lose.
On average, the same as any pool
Over a very long run, solo and a steady pool pay about the same per terahash, less fees. Solo pays it in rare, whole blocks.
Nobody holds the reward
The pool pays your address inside the block. Segments runs none of these pools, and SegPool has no solo mode.
It is real work
Your chance comes from real hashrate on the Bitcoin network. No one else's money pays for a win, and there is no prize pool.
Already own a miner?
Point it at SegPool Solo yourself
A Bitaxe on your desk, or a machine that no longer pays for its power: give it a chance at a whole block. Three settings, no account, and the pool keeps a small share of a block only if you find one.
It does happen
23 blocks found by solo miners in the last 12 months
Each one paid a full block reward to a single miner's address. Solo miners also go months without finding anything.

Questions
Before you mine solo
Why doesn't SegPool offer solo mining?
SegPool pays FPPS: a steady amount for every share your hashrate sends, whether or not a block is found. Solo needs a pool that pays a whole block to the one miner who found it. Keep machines that pay their power on SegPool, and use a solo pool for a shot.
Is this gambling?
It looks like one in a single way: most attempts end with nothing and a few win big. The difference is what you pay for. A rented round buys a measured amount of hashrate, and your own miner does real work. The reward comes from the Bitcoin network, not from other players, and there is no prize pool. Treat a rented round as entertainment with a known cost.
Which solo pool should I use?
Any well-known public one. The pools listed here have run for years, pay your address inside the block and keep a small share only of a block you find. Read each pool's terms before you connect.
How do I watch my miner?
Look up your bitcoin address on the pool's site. Your hashrate and best share show there within minutes. For an IonGrid round, IonGrid tells you where to look.
Can my machines hosted at Segments mine solo?
Yes. Ask your account manager and we point them at the pool you choose. Hosting is charged as usual, so a machine mining solo still pays its power while it waits for a block.
What happens if my hashrate finds a block?
The block pays your address directly, less the pool's fee. As with all newly mined coins, the reward can be spent after 100 more blocks, about 17 hours later.

Segments Cloud Hash FZ-LLC, a licensed UAE company. Solo mining pays only if the hashrate finds a block, which most attempts don't. Blocks found by other solo miners say nothing about your chances. IonGrid and the pools listed set their own prices, fees and terms; pool settings were read on October 28, 2026. Segments sells no solo orders and holds no reward. Mining output depends on the Bitcoin price and network difficulty and is not guaranteed.
