Liwa and Al Rimah: our builds for Active Energy Group
Two mining sites in the UAE for Active Energy Group (AIM: AEG), the London-listed company we work with: one finished, one being built now. Each needed new power lines run to the plot.

Our venture with Active Energy Group
In January 2026 Segments signed heads of terms with Active Energy Group and LC Group to form Active Mining Group, a UAE venture in which we hold 20%. We bring the technical side: building and running ASIC mining sites.
Active Energy has announced a roadmap to more than 300 MW of capacity in the UAE, with the venture as the base of its 100 MW plan. Liwa and Al Rimah are part of that build-out.

How a build works
From a plot of land to a running hall
We take orders for any turnkey build, from one hall to a full site. One team handles every step, so you deal with one company from the land to the hand-over.

Land, leased or bought
We find a plot that suits the power you need and secure it, on lease or by purchase. If you already have land, we build on yours.

Approvals
We apply for the permits and approvals the site needs and follow them through before building starts.

Electrical infrastructure
We build the power side of the site: transformers, switchgear and distribution out to every rack.

The hosting hall
We build the hall around the cooling you choose: air, hydro or immersion, sized for the machines you will run.

Commissioning and hand-over
We power the site up, check it under load and hand it over running. If you would rather not run it yourself, ask us about operating it.

We build all three. Which one fits depends on the machines you will run, your budget and the site.
Air-cooled
Machines run on their own fans in a hall with hot and cold aisles. The lowest build cost per MW.

Water circuits carry the heat away from hydro miners. More machines per hall, and steady temperatures through the summer.

Our own centres are the reference
Segments runs 10 hosting centres in the UAE: 5 hydro-cooled and 5 air-cooled. Two new hydro-cooled centres, F57 (6 MVA) and F58 (4.5 MVA), are being built now. Ask to tour a site before you sign.

- How long does a build take?
- Standard projects are finished within 90 to 120 days of breaking ground. Large sites, or sites waiting on a new power connection, take longer; the quote comes with a timeline for your site.
- Do you find the land?
- Yes. We find a plot that suits the power you need and secure it on lease or by purchase. If you already have land, we build on yours.
- Do you handle the approvals?
- Yes. We apply for the permits and approvals the site needs and follow them through before building starts.
- Which cooling should I choose?
- Air-cooled halls cost the least to build. Hydro suits hydro miners and fits more machines into a hall. Immersion puts the machines in fluid tanks with no fans. Tell us the machines you plan to run and we will recommend one.
